215 quarantine violators jailed in Cavite, Bulacan

SOME 215 enhanced community quarantine violators were arrested in a string of anti-crime  operations in Cavite and Bulacan provinces.

Police Regional Office 4-A director Brigadier General Vicente D. Danao Jr. said 153 of the law offenders were arrested by members of the Cavite Police Provincial Office headed by Colonel Marlon R. Santos yesterday.

“I am again reminding all Calabarzon residents to please cooperate with us and obey the authorities as we establish 24-hour checkpoints in strategic locations in the region to control the movement of people in the community and help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Danao said. 

The Calabarzon police director said of 139 offenders  apprehended, 94  were arrested in Dasmariñas, Indang, Alfonso, Naic, Tanza and General Mariano Alvarez for  curfew violation; 17 were arrested in Indang, Silang, Imus, and Magallanes towns for  liquor ban violation while nine others were nabbed in Dasmariñas, Silang and Rosario towns for non-cooperation and direct assault to a person in authority.

Danao added that 19 others were arrested in Naic, Bacoor, General Aguinaldo, GMA, and Dasmariñas for disobedience while being accosted for violating the quarantine program.

The others were arrested for illegal drugs, attempted homicide, trespass to dwelling and illegal gambling. Santos said that six of the suspects were arrested in buy-bust operations   in Dasmariñas , Bacoor and Cavite cities and in Silang and Carmona muncipalities which led in the seizure of more than P20,000 worth of shabu and dried marijuana leaves.

In Central Luzon, PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Rhodel O. Sermonia said that 62 law violators were arrested by the Bulacan PPO headed by Col. Lawrence B. Cajipe.

Sermonia said 17 of the offenders were apprehended for violation of the quarantine law and disobeying lawful orders.

Five of the accused were nabbed in Bgy. Lambakin, Marilao town while in a drinking session. However, the five resisted and argued with the authorities who were forced to  turn them over to the local police. Two others were found to be under the influence of liquor and causing alarm and scandal in their neighborhood in Bgy. Marungko,  Angat and in Bgy. Muzon,  San Jose del Monte City.

The arrested offenders are now facing charges either for direct assault, physical injuries, grave threats, alarm and scandal and disobedience to authorities.

Yesterday, 10 quarantine violators were arrested by the Bulacan police in separate operations in San Jose del Monte and Malolos cities and in Bocaue, Bulacan, Santa Maria and Pulilan towns, according to Cajipe.

One of the accused identified as Manuelito Manuguid,31, yielded a plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves when he was accosted by officers manning a quarantine control point in Bgy. Bulac,  Santa Maria town for driving a motorcycle without a crash helmet and arguing with authorities.

Two others were arrested in Bgy. Bambang,  Bulacan after they attacked barangay tanods who accosted them for drinking outside their house.

Some forty-five other suspects were arrested in various anti-criminality operations in the municipalities of San Ildefonso, San Rafael and San Miguel and San Jose del Monte City this week, said Cajipe.

Five of the suspects were arrested for robbery at the Flying Grocery Store in Narra, San Jose del Monte City. Recovered from the suspects were four  loaded .38 revolvers, four hand grenades, a motorcycle and their loot which included a box of liquor, three CCTV cameras and a CCTV monitor, four cell phones and two deodorants.

Twenty-one others were arrested in anti-narcotics operations in San Miguel, Bustos, Plaridel, Marilao and Pandi towns and in Meycauayan City on Thursday which resulted in the confiscation of 60 plastic sachets of shabu, different drug paraphernalia and marked money.
