LUCENA City -- Quezon province recorded 27 new Covid-19 cases in a single day,  bringing to 343 the total number of those infected.

Based on the QPIO's reports, confirmed Covid-19 cases became fast increasing days after the province was placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) last July 1.

Since July 1 to date, the province recorded additional 183 new confirmed cases in addition to 160 previous cases from March 15 to June 30.

The continuous increase had prompted Quezon Gov. Danilo Suarez to call the attention of Quezon mayors and asked them to be more vigilant and maintain the strict implementation of their respective local guidelines

The governor also asked the mayors to lockdown, if necessary, the barangays with high Covid-19 cases iin order to stop the fast- increasing cases.

Despite the effort, the fast- rising cases continue.

Of the 343 current cases, 202 have already recovered, 15 have died and 126 are still confined in different medical facilities.
