POLICE Regional Office 5 director, Brigadier General Anthony S. Alcañeses yesterday announced the apprehension of 272 persons, three of them minors for violation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Bicol which is already on its 2nd week.
The official said that the offenders were apprehended for violating protocols on checkpoint and non-compliance to the ECQ implemented to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 virus in the region and other parts of the country.
Alcañeses said that the adult offenders are now facing charges for violation of Article 148 (Direct Assault) and Art. 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to a person in authority or the agents of such person) of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 1332 or the "Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act") to include the non-compliance to the curfew hours.
He said that the Sorsogon police recorded the biggest arrest of violators with 90 followed by Catanduanes with 60; Masbate with 37; Albay with 31; Camarines Norte with 29; Camarines Sur with 14; and the Naga City police with three apprehensions.
“We are again appealing to all Bicol residents to fully cooperate with our quarantine measures and call for their understanding as we continue to implement the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Bicol. Thus, everyone is urged to do their part by staying home in order to save lives,” said Alcaneses.
