THREE boat crew members on Tuesday died of suffocation while cleaning an oil cargo vessel tanker anchored off Bgy. Camastilisan in Calaca, Batangas.
Calaca town police chief Maj. Virgilio Jopia identified the fatalities as Enrique Jay Gaspado, John Rey Illustrisimo, and Ryan Jay Bantilan.
Jopia said they received a telephone call from the Ospital Ng Calaca at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday informing them that three men were rushed to the hospital due to suffocation.
Police immediately responded.
The victims were cleaning the empty oil cargo tank of Motor Tanker Andrina 200 vessel when they suddenly fainted due to a high level of gas emanated by the tanker.
The other boat crew members rushed the victims to the hospital, where the three were declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Ross Anthony Eguia.
