THREE persons were declared dead at the hospital after suffocating while cleaning the inside part of a cargo vessel motor tanker anchored off Bgy. Camastilisan, Calaca, Batangas the other day.
Calaca town police chief Major Virgilio M. Jopia identified the fatalities as Enrique Jay Gaspado, John Rey Illustrisimo, and Ryan Jay Bantilan.
A telephone call was received by the town police station personnel around 1:45 p.m.from the staff of Ospital Ng Calaca and reported the incident.
Police investigators immediately responded at the scene and learned from the other crews that the three victims were cleaning the empty oil cargo tank number 3 starboard of the Motor Tanker Andrina 200 vessels when it emitted the high level of gas odor and low oxygen which was anchored off in Calaca that caused suffocation of the victims.
The three victims were immediately brought to Ospital Ng Calaca but pronounced dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Ross Anthony Eguia.
Police investigation is ongoing.
