CABANATUAN CITY – Three suspected armed traffickers died in successive anti-drug police operations in Nueva Ecija when they resisted arrest and engaged undercover lawmen in separate gunbattles yesterday and the Monday.
In San Jose City, killed was Joselito Gonzales, alias Dags, said to be a known drug personality, of Zone 3, Bgy. Caanawan.
The slain suspect fought off undercover operatives conducting the buy-bust after he sold to a police poseur-buyer P500 worth of shabu at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, city police head, said Gonzales even tried to escape after firing a shot but was pursued by his men resulting to his instant death.
Police said two other drug suspects, identified as Michael Pasumala, of Purok 6, Bgy. San Josef Norte, and Elvis Encarnacion, of Bgy. Sta. Arcadia, both of this city, were killed early yesterday morning here and in Gapan City, respectively.
Pasumala, an identified drug personality by the police, was neutralized after a buy-bust operation was conducted against him in Don Encarnacion Street, Bgy. Zulueta, this city at 2:30 a.m.
City police head Lt. Col. Ponciano Zafra said the slain suspect fired at his operative using a cal. 45 pistol but missed, enabling the latter to return fire and take down the suspect which led to his death.
In Gapan City, Encarnacion also suffered the same fate after firing his homemade cal.38 gun at an operative during a buy-bust operation conducted in Bgy. Balante at 3 a.m.
