THREE men were seriously injured in separate cases of shooting and hacking incidents in Zamboanga peninsula last Sunday, a Police Regional Office 9 report said.
Two of the victims identified as Dante Nopoloreyes,33, and Jaybee Manalopilar,26, both residents of Sitio Imelda, Barangay Tolosa in Zamboanga City were wounded after being ‘shotgunned’ by a security guard of the Zamboanga City Water District at 11 p.m. Sunday.
An investigation showed the two were fishing at the Bulag River when the guard identified as Joel delos Reyes arrived and told them not to leave the area.
Seconds later, the suspect fired his shotgun at the two who both suffered shrapnel wounds in their bodies and taken to the Mindanao Central Sanitarium Hospital.
The guard’s motive behind the gun attack is yet to be established.
The 3rd victim identified as Michelle Elian,38, was reportedly hacked by her live-in partner Ben Julain,42, inside their residence in Bgy. A.L. Micubo in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators said the suspect suddenly hacked the victim without provocation in different parts of her body before fleeing towards the mountainous part of their barangay.
The woman suffered serious hack wounds and was brought to the Siocon District Hospital by her neighbors.
PRO9 director, Brigadier General Froilan F. Quidilla said local policemen are still tracking down the two suspects who will be facing frustrated murder charges.
