3 NPA members yield

THREE active members of the New People’s Army on Thursday surrendered to local police authorities in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat following weeks of negotiation, Police Regional Office director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus announced yesterday.

Corpus said the three identified as Plag Sipot, 35; Saping Dumato, 57; and Sumadik Dumato, 40, all farmers from Sitio Tubugawin in Barangay Mitungok, Senator Ninoy Aquino municipality also turned over one caliber .45 pistol, one M-16 single-shot pistol, two 12-gauge shotguns and over a dozen assorted live ammunition to authorities.

The official said the three who were described as member of the NPA’s Far South Mindanao Region Committee presented themselves to local police officials led by Lieutenant Colonels Hoover Antonio and Roy Romualdo and Captain Leonel Delasan and Mayor Randy Ecija at 1 p.m. Thursday.

All will undergo a processing that will enable them to avail of the government’s economic livelihood program, Corpus said.
