3 teenagers in P1.5-M jewelry heist nabbed

SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija – Police arrested three teenagers who robbed a businesswoman of some P1.5 million worth of jewelry in this municipality.

The robbery took place inside the Victor Del Rosario Rice Mill compound in Bgy. Diversion of female trader Ruth Songalia, 40.

Town police head Maj. Jeffrey Alivia said the heist was discovered at 11:20 a.m. on Monday when the victim went to her bedroom and found her two petty cash vaults missing.

The vaults contained the trader’s gold earrings, necklace, bracelets and rings worth P1,500,000.

Based on the CCTV footages installed in the compound, three unidentified men with faces covered with clothing  entered the victim’s room through the window of her comfort room at 2 a.m. on the same day.

Police conducting follow-up operations arrested the suspects. They were Bryan Esparagoza, 18; Anjo Loque, and Justine Credo, 16, all of Bgy. Diversion.

Recovered from the young suspects were the missing petty cash vaults but without the jewelry.

Robbery charges are set to be filed against the arrested suspects.
