A NORTHERN Mindanao-wide series of anti-criminality operations last week resulted in the arrest of 313 persons, 112 of them known drug personalities and the others wanted for various felonies, Police Regional Office 10 director, Brigadier General Rolando B. Anduyan said yesterday.
The official said that the SAPO or Simultaneous Aggressive Police Operations they conducted across the region also resulted in the seizure of 27 various unlicensed firearms and dozens of live ammunition.
Anduyan said that of the 313 arrested 112 are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002; 168 are persons wanted for various criminal offenses including theft, rape, homicide and serious physical injuries while 19 were arrested for illegal gambling.
The PRO10 director also said that during the period, his men also apprehended 193 men found drinking in public places; 13 for violation of the no-smoking ordinance; 31 for going half-naked in public places in defiance of existing ordinance; and 185 were minors found to be violating curfew hours.
“We are conducting the aggressive anti-criminality operations and enforcement of various city and municipal ordinances in the entire Northern Mindanao region as part of our effort to account for wanted persons, loose firearms and other instruments that could be used to disrupt the peace and at the same time keep the streets safe 24/7,” he said.
