FIVE suspected big-time drug traffickers on Monday were arrested and nearly P7 million worth of shabu were seized in separate anti-narcotics operations in Zamboanga City.
Police Regional Office 9 director Chief Supt. Lubigan in the city; and Joel Hernando, 31, a truckman from Upper Calarian.
Recovered during the sting were 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing 500 grams of the “poor man’s cocaine” worth P3.4 million, two mobile phones and the marked money they received from an undercover officer.
The two other suspects, Manjannag Ahadani Umbang, a 50-year-old housewife from Bgy. Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City, and Junjun Barlie, 25, a jobless resident of Bgy. Lamion in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi; were arrested by combined agents of the PRO9 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in front of the 3J Novelty Products and Accessories Store in Radja Sulaiman St., Bgy. Zone 4 around 4 p.m. on Monday.
Recovered from the suspects were 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million, nine bundles of boodle money topped by marked P1,000 bills, and a cell phone they used in making contact with the undercover officer.
Licup said they are crackling down on major drug traffickers in Western Mindanao as ordered by Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.
