5 new Ecija positive COVID-19 cases are medical frontliners

GAPAN CITY – Five of those new nine confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Nueva Ecija are medical front-liners serving various hospitals in the province, it was learned yesterday.

Four are physicians while the fifth COVID-19 patient is a nurse, authorities said.

Four of those newly-infected came from this city, specifically from barangays San Nicolas, San Vicente, Bayanihan, and Sto. Cristo Sur, said Mayor Emerson “Emeng” Pascual. He described these four front-liners as "disciplined people."

With these new four positive cases, this city now has six COVID-19 patients, the most number among local government units in the province, said the mayor.

In Nueva Ecija, the total tally for COVID-19 positive cases is currently pegged at 15 while there are six-PUI-related deaths.

Expressing grave concern with this rising COVID-19 positive cases, Pascual called on police and barangay officials for stricter implementation of enhanced community quarantine protocols especially in all exit and entry points of the city.

The mayor also bared a free "board-and lodging" assistance package for Gapan City-based medical front-liners who are currently working in hospitals or clinics outside the city.

For relief assistance to the barangays, the city government is now distributing to each household a 50-kilo sack of rice with daeng na isda and eggs.

Pascual said he also plans to buy all the vegetables planted in the barangays starting from Bgy. Pambuan all the way going to the San Isidro town boundary and distribute them to his constituents.
