
6 cops hurt in CamSur ambush
SIX policemen on a medical mission were wounded in an ambush by armed men believed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Camarines Sur.
Taken to the Naga City Hospital were PO3 Roland G. Hermogeno, PO1 Vladimir Guadalupe, PO1 Roy V. Carbonell, PO1 Eliseo Jomar N Palaroan, PO1 Mikhail Jose Concina and PO1 Daisy Bhel Genova.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed that the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at Sitio Patag, Bgy. Mambulo, Nuevo , Libmanan, Camarines Sur.
The cops were onboard a PNP KIA trooper on their way to Libmanan proper after attending a joint medical mission with the 9th Infantry Battalion (IB), 9th Infantry Division (ID) at Baragay Bagamelon when an undetermined number of rebels attacked them with an improvised explosive device (IED) followed by a burst of gunfire.A shootout ensued until the rebels retreated.
Combined elements of PNP and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are tracking down the suspects.
