6 dead, 6 hurt in Batangas mishaps

six persons, including a four-year-old girl,  were killed while six others were wounded in separate vehicular accidents involving four vehicles yesterday morning in Sto. Tomas and Taal, Batangas.

The fatalities in Sto. Tomas were identified as Rencie Agbin Bautista, 33, senior engineer; Remedios Bautista, bank assistant manager; Zyryn Bautista Athena, 4, and Calexto Guzman Racasa, 44, while those dead in Taal mishap were Jenwel Molina and Edgardo Balacana.

Taken to the nearest hospital for treatment were Florentino Eno Densing, 51, Lutha Merdegia Huardey, 35, Vilma Rapsing Azotea, 57, Jonas San Galleta Juan, 37, Aldrin Racasa, 22, and Aaron Racasa, 13.

Reports reaching Camp Crame said that the incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on national highway in Bgy. San Jose, Sto. Tomas.

Involved in the accident were an International head truck (ZRL 697, with trailer bearing plate number DUC-281), driven by Ruel Repollo Jarabese, 44; Honda TMX tricycle driven by Calexto Racasa; Bicol-Isarog passenger bus (ADE 5288) driven by Florentino Eno Densing and a Toyota Vios (WB 0456) driven by Rencie Bautista.

Initial investigation showed that the vehicles were travelling northbound when suddenly, the truck bumped the tricycle, the passenger bus and the Toyota Vios.

Because of the strong impact, the drivers of the tricycle and the Toyota Vios died on the spot while the two others died in the hospital.

In Taal town,  two motorcycle drivers died after their vehicle accidentally collided along the Diversion Road in Bgy. Tulo, at dawn Monday.

Taal police chief Senior Insp. Ernesto Chavez, who was the first to arrive at the scene with his personnel, identified the fatalities as Jenwel Molina and Edgardo Balacana.

Investigators said that at 3:30 a.m. Monday, the Yamaha Novou motorcycle (1816PI) driven by Molina was traversing the road toward Lemery town when it overtook another vehicle and accidentally collided with an oncoming Rusi motorcycle (4501 WY) being driven by Balacana on the opposite direction.

The two drivers sustained severe and fatal injuries and were brought to Taal Polymeric Hospital and Batangas Provincial Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival by their attending physicians.
