7 ISIS-inspired Maute Group supporters give up in LanaoSur

SEVEN members and supporters of the ISIS-inspired Maute Terror Group surrendered to government forces the other day in Lanao del Sur.

This was confirmed by Capt. Clint Antipala, spokesman of Philippine Army’s 1st Infantry Division (ID).

He said the former terrorists surrendered to the troops of 55th Infantry Batallion of Joint Task Force Ranao.

Antipala said the former terrorists also turned over their firearms, including three M1 Garand rifle, one Carbine, four caliber .45 pistols and a 9mm pistol.

The surrederers have undergone custodial debriefing.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, commander of Joint Task Force Zampelan of the Philippine Army believed that forces of the Maute Terror Group are already weakening.

In line with this, Murillo called on other terrorists to surrender and go back to the folds of the law.
