CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Seven persons were arrested the other day by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 3 (CIDG-R3) for illegal gambling and theft.
Reports reaching Sr. Supt. Christopher Abrahano, CIDG-R3 chief, said five of the seven arrested persons were playing drop ball game, locally known as “bolilyo”, at Barangay Pance, Ramos, Tarlac.
The game’s financier, Cipriano Relucio Jr., 26, and his two assistants identified as Benigno Abelardo, 33, and Roi Jefferson Paladan, 21, were arrested.
Two bettors identified as Emil Soriano, 27, and Gerome Soriano, 24, were also arrested.
The five are facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287.
In Barangay Matain, Subic, Zambales, CIDG operatives arrested one Reinan Buttre, 27, who had six warrants of arrest issued by Hon. Roline Ginez-Jabalde of Olongapo City Regional Trial Court Branch 74 for qualified theft with P72,000 recommended bail for each offense.
In Barangay Sta. Rita, Olongapo City, one Russel Glenn Melanio, 45, was arrested via serving of an arrest warrant for five cases of qualified theft with P72,000 recommended bail for each case.
