EIGHT New People’s Army rebels yielded to security officials in Culasi, Antique to avail of the government’s comprehensive livelihood package, Police Regional Office 6 director, Brigadier General Rene P. Pamuspusan announced yesterday.
The eight, all identified members of the Central and Northern Front Committees of the CPP/NPA Regional Party Committee, were formally accepted to the folds of the government by officials during simple ceremonies in Barangay Poblacion in Culasi municipality on Friday last week, the Western Visayas police director said.
Pamuspusan said the eight surrendered following negotiations with local police and military officials in the province. They were presented to local government officials led by Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao and other officials Pamuspusan said the ex-NPA guerrillas will be undergoing an assessment before being allowed to avail the benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP of the Duterte administration.
“I am also reiterating my call to other NPA members in Western Visayas region to surrender and abandon their lost cause and live a new life under the government comprehensive integration program specifically created for them,” said the PRO6 director.
