EIGHT members of the terror group Daulah Islamiya were killed while ten others were wounded as government forces destroyed their lair during artillery and air strikes on Saturday in Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao.
This was confirmed by Task Force Central (JTFC) Commander Major General Cirilito E. Sobejana.
“Walo yung patay. May mga pangalan kami pero yung iba bina-validate pa namin kasi unnamed,” Sobejana said.
Sobejana said the JTFC launched a surgical air, artillery and ground operation at around 6 p.m. on confirmed terrorists’ lair at Sitio Tatak, Barangay Tugal, Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao.
He said troops were able to locate and confirm the lair of the Daesh (ISIS)-inspired terrorists led by Salahudin Hassan.
Also in the area during the operation were Daulah Islamiya Toraype group sub-commander Abu Toraype, two Arab looking men, a certain Mawiya, a Singaporean national and two Malaysians.
The military said they still could not say if Toraype and the foreigners escaped or were killed in the bombing.
The operation destroyed suspected 20-capacity bunkers and foxholes of the Daesh-inspired terrorist group.
Sobejana said government forces were able to capture the main camp of the enemy.
Positive information and support provided by former members of BIFF who surrendered to “JTF Central” made the operation possible and a success, he said.
“We ease the fear of our people and assure them that safety procedures were undertaken and deliberately planned by JTFC giving due concern to the safety of the civilian populace,” the military official said.
“Appropriate coordination was also made with MILF CCCH and the targeted areas were confined to locations far from the local communities.” he added.
Sobejana stressed that he is bent on defeating the terrorists.
“I am very determined to defeat these threat groups and prevent them from doing terroristic activities to bring about peace in Central Mindanao.” he said.
