LEGAZPI City – The province of Albay closed its borders early yesterday morning after Albay Gov. Al Francis Bichara signed an executive order amid a spike in the number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) which is now at 14,000.
The province’s boundaries adjacent to Camarines Sur and the province of Sorsogon were closed after the League of Cities and Municipalities sent a petition to the governor.
Under Bichara’s Executive Order the province’s security personnel and the Philippine National Police closed the province’s borders in Barangay Agos, Polangui, Albay and in Agos at the boundary of Bato, Camarines Sur.
Police checkpoints were also placed in Barangay Villahermosa, Daraga, Albay at the border of Sorsogon province; at the boundary of Tiwi, Albay and Sagñay, C. Sur; and the farthest border of Libon, Albay and Bato, C. Sur.
