BULACAN policemen this week shot dead an armed motorcycle-riding man following a shootout and arrested seven other law violators in separate operations in the province, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Rhodel O. Sermonia said yesterday.
Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe said that the still unidentified gunman was killed in a gunbattle with policemen manning a Quarantine Control Point in San Ildefonso municipality around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the official, members of the San Ildefonso Municipal Police Station were manning their quarantine checkpoint in Barangay Maasim when they tried to accost the suspect as he tried to pass thru the area on board a motorcycle.
Cajipe said the suspect ignored the officers manning the checkpoint prompting the lawmen to radio the nearest QCP in the area. Later, members of the San Ildefonso Quick Reaction Team caught up with the suspect in nearby Bgy. Poblacion where the latter reportedly fired at the officers.
Police gave chase and cornered the suspect in Bgy. Sapang Putol where the latter was killed in an ensuing firefight.
Recovered from the slain suspect’s possession were a loaded caliber .45 pistol and a blue Rusi motorcycle without plate number.
Cajipe also announced the arrest of 10 persons including the 8th most wanted man in Aklan on Wednesday and yesterday.
He said suspect Ruel Santiago, wanted for frustrated murder in Banga, Aklan was tracked down in his hiding place in Bgy. Pleasant Hills in Mandaluyong City.
Four other men involved in illegal drug activities in the province were also arrested in a buy-bust operation in Santa Maria town. The suspects identified as Jhufel Alfon,41; Prince Coquilla,30; Ronald Duroca,33; and Roberto Nadal,46, yielded nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, several drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
Cajpe said two others involved in hoarding and sale of overpriced alcohol in the province were arrested in separate entrapment operations on Wednesday.
He identified the two as Mark Marvin Dalawis,24, a resident of Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City and Ma. Monica Ann Valencia,33, owner of the JCM Wholesale Store in Bgy. Palimbang in Calumpit.
Cajipe said combined operatives of the Marilao Municipal Police Station and the Bulacan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested Dalawis during a sting in Bgy. Loma de Gato which led in the recovery of 18 pieces of 1-gallon Isopropyl alcohol being sold by the accused at P665 each gallon compared to the standard retail price of P500-P550 per gallon. The pieces of alcohol products seized from the suspect were valued at P11,970.
Cajipe said that officers from the Bulacan PPO’s Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Calumpit MPS also arrested Valencia while in the act of selling a box containing 20 bottles of 1-liter isopropyl alcohol without proper label for P230 each bottle.
He said that confiscated from the suspect were 70 plastic bottles of alcohol which were being sold beyond the Department of Trade and Industry’s suggested retail price.
