April 22, 2019

CAVINTI, Laguna - The commanding general of the Philippine Army on Sunday directed his troops guarding the national government’s southern frontier to ensure the sanctity of the upcoming national elections in Region 4A.

Lt. Gen. Macairog Alberto issued the directive during a visit at the headquarters of the 202nd Infantry Brigade in this town.
He also asked his men to ensure the safety of pilgrims and tourists who flocked to numerous resorts in the eastern and southern gateways of Metro Manila during the Holy Week.

Brig Gen. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr, the military commander who has operational jurisdiction over Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon)  region, said that the military is very confident that the New People’s Army would not be able to sabotage the May 2019 elections in the region since “the enemy has been on the run trying to evade the intelligence-driven Focused Military Operations.”
