LOPEZ, Quezon -- An Army official was wounded when fired upon from a distance by a suspected communist terrorist sniper at a mountainous portion of the town last Wednesday.
Police said Lt. Randy A. Bobis, of the Army 85th Infantry Battalion, Charlie Company, was riding a motorcycle with two soldiers at 7:30 p.m. along Catanauan Road in Bgy. San Francisco when shots from a sniper rang, hitting the victim on the left wrist and right face.
Fellow soldiers jumped for cover and engaged the terrorist in a five-minute exchange of gun fires. The suspect retreated later, sensing troop reinforcements were underway.
