NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office chief, Director Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday announced the arrest of an AWOL cop wanted for rape and acts of lasciviousness during a manhunt operation in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija.
The official identified the suspect as AWOL Police Officer 1 Johnny Ocampo, a 41-year old resident of Maturanoc 1 in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
He said that members of the NCRPO Regional Special Operations Unit, with the assistance of officers from the General Tinio Municipal Police Station caught the suspect at 10:30 p.m. last Saturday inside the PMP Manmade Paradise Resort in Barangay Nazareth, General Tinio town.
According to Eleazar, the suspect was arrested on the strength of an alias warrant of arrest for rape and acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act issued by Judge Victoria Isabel Paredes of the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 124 on October 21, 2010.
Eleazar said that the arrest of the suspect stemmed from an information furnished to the NCRPO-RSOU by Mrs. Olive Valeriano, a former partner of the AWOL cop and the mother of the minor victims regarding the presence of the wanted policeman in Nueva Ecija.
