Balanga City fields mobile kitchen for residents  

BALANGA City, Bataan – The city government here yesterday launched a mobile kitchen program to cook and deliver meals to affected residents of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ.

The “Barangay Kitchen Station” program was  first introduced in Barangay Malabia which included two heavy duty stoves, two large pots, other kitchen appliances and cooking tools and basic cooking ingredients.

“Each barangay will assign a health worker and two nutrition scholars who will prepare the meals to be delivered to residents via home-to-home distribution on a daily basis,” Mayor Francis Garcia said.

Beneficiaries of the program shall be residents who belong to the 30 percent of the households identified by the city government as severely affected by ECQ.

The barangays will also receive mobilization fund for the program’s additional supplies.

“We will be able to overcome this trial and we will ensure that no Balangueño will be hungry,” Garcia stressed.

The program is in cooperation with the provincial government of Bataan, office of 2nd district Representative Jose Enrique Garcia III, the city’s 25 barangays, private sector and religious organizations.
