A BARANGAY ‘kagawad’ in Jones, Isabela who has been listed as a ‘high-value’ drug target was arrested by the local police in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday morning, Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Jose Mario M. Espino reported yesterday.
The Cagayan Valley police director identified the jailed suspect as Francis Mart ‘Bong’ Apolinario, a resident of Bgy. Minuri in Jones municipality who is included in the ‘HVT’ list of the Philippine National Police Directorate for Intelligence.
The official said that the suspect was arrested during an entrapment operation in his neighborhood at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday conducted by members of the PRO2 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Regional Intelligence Division, the 2nd Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Jones Municipal Police Station.
Recovered from the barangay official’s possession were three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill. The suspect’s motorcycle without plate number was also impounded by the local police.
Espino said that the suspect will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
