AGENTS of the Police Regional Office have arrested a known ‘high-value’ drug target and over 500 individuals found engaged in illegal gambling activities including ‘tupadas’ amid the strict enforcement of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the region, PRO5 director, Brigadier General Anthony S. Alcañeses told the Journal Group yesterday.
The Bicol police director said around 9:45 p.m. last Wednesday, drug enforcement officers of the Pasacao Municipal Police Station in Camarines Sur arrested Roy Bañola, a 40-year old ‘HVT’ from Barangay Cirilo during a buy-bust operation which resulted in the seizure of 20 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
Alcañeses said the arrest of the suspect came in the wake of the intensified anti-drug campaign by the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office headed by Colonel Roderico Roy Jr.
Alcañeses said that amid their strict enforcement of the ECQ in the region, they have also arrested 501 individuals for violation of the anti-illegal gambling law since last March 17.
PRO5 records showed that the Albay PPPO made the most number of arrests with 220, followed by the Sorsogon PPO with 106. On the other hand, the Camarines Norte PPO apprehended 79; the Masbate PPO with 62; the Naga City Police Office with 19 and the Catanduanes PPO with 10.
The offenders were either classified as bettors or players of card games, dice games and illegal cockfighting or ‘tupada.’ Recovered from the suspects were over P88,000 in cash bets.
