TABACO City -- Mayor Crisel Lagman Luistro urged her constituents not to lie to health authorities conducting contract tracing amid the rise of Covid-19 cases in the city.

The mayor made the appeal after scores of locally-stranded individuals (LSIs) and former residents have arrived in this city without observing the proper health protocols.

The LSIs, mostly from Metro Manila, were being tracked by local health authorities and barangay health workers, after they failed to report  their arrival in this city.

Luistro said despite having health certificates and proof of rapid-tests, many LSIs have turned Covid positives  during the conduct of swab tests.

As of August 7, the Department of Health (DOH) reported that an 80-year-old male died of Covid-19 in the city, bringing the total death toll from the virus in Bicol to 16 since April this year.

During the weekend the DOH reported 16 new Covid-19 positive cases in Albay province:  five in Guinobatan town, four in Daraga, four in Tabaco City, two in Ligao City and one in Camalig.
