‘Billionaire’ slips thru checkpoint, arrested

HERMOSA, Bataan- A controversial businessman who claimed to be a ‘billionaire’ was arrested yesterday after he allegedly disregarded PNP checkpoint in barangay Balsik, this town.

Major Jeffrey Onde, Hermosa police chief, reported that Jayson Paguio Morales, 33, of barangay Sto. Nino, Dinalupihan town, was arrested for Violation of Articles 11332 and 151 (Carrying unauthorized person, Disobedience and Resistance) when the suspect allegedly evaded police checkpoint.

But Morales denied this, saying it was just a miscommunication.

“I stopped at the checkpoint, like some other cars for inspection. When a police signaled us to go, then I sped off not knowing that only those cars ahead of me were allowed to pass through at that time,” Morales pointed out.

Asked if he was maltreated for being once controversial in social media, Morales said “no.”

“ Actually, I admire the police here and Prosecutor Ocampo for treating me well; they are professional,” he added.

Major Onde said that while the police was checking his car, the suspect drove away and disregarded the checkpoint. “At that instance the personnel chased the said car and was able to catch him at Bgy. Rizal, Dinalupihan.

Provincial Prosecutor Sonny Ocampo said the supect’s inquest he is of the belief that Morales is answerable to the charge but said he can post bail of P3,000 each by Monday.
