
Boat sinks, 3 excursionists drown in Laguna de Bay
THREE people who were on an excursion on Sunday drowned while seven others survived when a passenger boat they were riding sank in Laguna de Bay in Calamba City, Laguna.
Calamba City police chief Lt. Col. Jac Malinao identified the fatalities as Allan Bautista, 42; Michael Antoquia and Ryan Aquinde, all residents of Bgy. Bigaa, Cabuyao City, Laguna.
Members of the Phil. Coast Guard Bgy. Quick Response Team and the Calamba City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office retrieved the bodies of the victims.
Antoquia and Aquinde bodies were found yesterday morning while Bautista was found in the afternoon of the same day.
Those who survived were Allan Grotas, 41; Dalia Grotas, 34; Michelle Alcuran, 33; Marvin Garcia, 36; Ryan Kabandi,33; “Talit” and boat driver Bernie Bariring.
The victims rented Bariring’s boat to ferry them to Wonder Island Resort Talim Island.
After the excursion, the victims were on their way home when the boat tilted and sank near the Calamba Baywalk in Bgy. Lingga, Calamba City at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
