BOHOL policemen on Wednesday and yesterday launched simultaneous anti-narcotics operations in the province and seized over P11 million worth of shabu in one of their targets alone, Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Supt. Debold M. Sinas said.
In a report to Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde, the PRO7 director said that at around 2 a.m. yesterday, members of the Bohol Police Provincial Office headed by Senior Supt. Angeles Genorga started serving 32 search warrants for illegal possession of drugs and firearms and six buy-bust operations.
Prior to that, members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Bohol police led by Senior Inspector Romar Labasbas raided the house of ‘high-value’ drug target Joseph Alburadora, 43, in CPG East Avenue, Mansasa District, Tagbilaran City, on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Sinas said the raid led to the arrest of Alburadora and the seizure of 43 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 935 grams of suspected shabu with a local market value of P11 million as well as several drug repacking paraphernalia including cellophane plastics bags and a weighing scale.
“The raid was triggered by the information supplied by two known drug dealers in the province who were arrested in a buy-bust operation last month. What’s good about this operation is that single raid alone yielded nearly a kilo of shabu,” the official told the Journal Group.
It turned out that during interrogation, suspects Geoffrey Silao and Paul Christian Culpa pointed to Alburadora as the main source of the drugs confiscated from them, prompting the local police to apply for a search warrant needed to raid the suspect’s house.
Another buy-bust operation in Sitio Riverside 1 in Bgy. Cansojong, Talisay City in Cebu resulted in the arrest of Julius Abalo, 38, after he sold more than 20 grams of so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P245,000 to a poseur around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.
The sting was conducted in the wake of a tip from a concerned citizen.
In Cortes, Bohol, local policemen led by Insp. Camilo Estrera Jr. raided the residence of ‘habal-habal’ driver Renato Hubac, 31, in Sitio Panabang and arrested him after they found shabu and drug paraphernalia worth nearly P7,000.
Another operation in Clarin municipality yielded some P50,000 worth of shabu and the arrest of Rex Mario Balansag, 25, a notorious drug pusher in Bgy. Nahawan.
Another suspect, identified as Wilson Edra, 45, of Bgy. Cabog, was arrested after officers led by Senior Insp. Fernando Peroramas recovered some P30,000 worth of shabu inside his house.
Two other suspected drug dealers, Roy Labuca Sr. and Joel Gutierrez, were arrested in Sitio Cagay, Bgy. Pooc Oriental, Tubigon town, following separate anti-narcotics operations which yielded P50,000 worth of shabu.
Sinas said that charges for violation of RA 9165 are being readied against the arrested suspects.
