Bulacan cops gun down pusher, arrest 7 others

ONE armed drug trafficking suspect was killed while seven were arrested in a string of anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan conducted by the local police on Monday and early morning yesterday, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Chief Superintendent Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.

The slain suspect identified as Manuelito Figueroa, a resident of Melody Heights, Barangay Muzon in San Jose del Monte City exchanged fire with undercover officers around 2:40 a.m. yesterday and was killed in the process, said Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna.

The official said that members of the San Jose del Monte City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit under Supt. Orlando Castil were forced to fire at the suspect after he sensed the ongoing entrapment operation in his neighborhood and began shooting them with an improvised shotgun.

Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one 12-gauge home-made shotgun with several live ammunition, a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and the marked money he received from an undercover officer.

The seven other suspects, one of them still a minor were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in San Jose del Monte and Meycauayan cities and the municipalities of Pulilan, Hagonoy and Plaridel.

Six of them were identified as Mark Gil Dela Pacion, Ryan Macasling, Wilson Tan,  Marlon de Leon, Christian Hipe and Ruby Jane Layson. The minor suspect was described as a 16-year old male student.

Recovered from their possession were 17 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, various drug paraphernalia and marked money.

The suspects are now facing charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
