CONTINUING anti-criminality operations in Bulacan on Wednesday resulted in the killing of an armed drug trafficking suspect during a gunbattle in Plaridel municipality and the arrest of 31 others, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said yesterday.
The slain suspect identified as Alvin Mabanta alias ‘Bino,’ a 29-year old resident of Barangay San Jose in Baliwag, exchanged fire with undercover officers from the Plaridel Municipal Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit and was killed when the lawmen retaliated during a buy-bust operation along NIA Road in Bgy. Bintog in Plaridel, local police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Victorino Valdez said.
Recovered from the slain suspect’s possession following the 12:20 a.m. Wednesday firefight were 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, the marked money paid to him by an undercover agent and a caliber .38 revolver with three spent cartridges and three live ammunition.
The suspect’s tricycle with the markings Bagong Nayon 4641 was impounded by the Palridel police.
The Bulacan Police Provincial Office said that 16 other known drug personalities in the province were also arrested on the same day in separate anti-narcotics operations in the cities of San Jose del Monte, Malolos and Meycauayan and the municipalities of Balagtas, Calumpit, San Ildefonso, Guiguinto and Baliwag.
