Bulacan cops kill motorcycle thief, arrest 7 others

A SUSPECTED motorcycle thief was killed in a shootout with Bulacan policemen who pursued him after he and a cohort tried to evade a checkpoint in San Rafael town early yesterday morning

A report to Police Regional Office 3 director Chief Superintendent Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said the still unidentified suspect and his cohort exchanged fire with members of the San Rafael Municipal police at a checkpoint in Barangay Maguinao around 12:45 a.m.

Bulacan Police Provincial Office director Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna said the two were on a Rusi motorcycle which they stole from its owner in Bgy. Diliman 1st when they were spotted by the cops.

Officers gave chase when the two tried to escape and intercepted them on Cagayan Valley Road in Bgy. Cruz na Daan where the unidentified suspect was killed while trading shots with officers. The motorcycle driver escaped on foot.             

Meanwhile, 17 law offenders, seven of them involved in drugs, were arrested in a string of anti-crime operations in the province. He said the seven suspected drug personalities arrested in buy-busts in Santa Maria, Hagonoy, Plaridel and Pandi municalities were identified as Natalio Ocampo Jr., RJ Valdez, Jeffrey Makalinaw, Johnson Paloma, Arjhan Fabian, Mark Arvin Co and Edwin Sayo.
