SEPARATE anti-narcotics operations in Bulacan over the weekend ended in the killing of a drug trafficker in Pandi town and the arrest of 35 others, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brigadier General Joel Napoleon M. Coronel said.
Killed during a buy-bust in Barangay Poblacion, Pandi was Jan Bryan Reyes alias “Barako,” a driver residing in San Miguel municipality.
He was in the drug watch list of the Pandi municipal police.
According to Pandi police chief Major Avelino Protacio, the suspect who was a known drug supplier in Bgy. Poblacion and other nearby areas in Pandi, had just sold drugs to a poseur around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday when he sensed the sting and opted to fight it out with the lawmen.
The suspect was hit in the body died on the spot. Recovered from his possession were a loaded .38 Smith & Wesson revolver with five live bullets and a spent cartridge, six plastic sachets of shabu and the marked money paid to him by the agent.
The 35 other suspects were arrested in separate drug busts in San Jose del Monte, Malolos and Meycauayan cities and the towns of San Rafael, San Miguel, Bocaue, Santa Maria, Marilao, Hagonoy, Balagtas, Baliwag, San Ildefonso, Bustos last Thursday and Friday.
All are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Recovered from the suspects’ possession were 90 plastic sachets of shabu, four plastic sachets with dried marijuana leaves, assorted drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
Two of the suspects identified as Raymond Marcos,37; and Joy Deniega,37, will also be charged for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 after they yielded a loaded caliber 9mm semi-automatic pistol with one magazine containing 10 live ammunition, said Bulacan Police Provincial Office director Colonel Chito Bersaluna.
Meanwhile, a “high-value” drug target in Bicol region was shot dead by the local police during a buy-bust in Daraga City in Albay around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Police Regional Office 5 director Brigadier General Arnel B. Escobal said yesterday.
Suspect John Ford Keith Vales alias “Ford,” a top 1 target of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, was killed in gun battle with undercover officers from the local drug enforcement unit in Barangay Maroroy.
Recovered from the possession of the slain suspect were one loaded .38 revolver, one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and the marked bill paid to him by a poseur.
The suspect had just received the marked money from the poseur when he sensed the presence of other plainclothes officers in the area and panicked and tried to shoot the agent. Other lawmen returned fire killing the “HVT,” said Escobal.
Also last Independence Day, officers arrested Mark Anthon Azada, another top drug personality in Bicol region during a buy-bust operation in CBD Road in Bgy. Triangulo, Naga City, the Bicol police director said.
Escobal said that Azada yielded two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 25 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P170,000 and the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill during the 10:30 p.m. Wednesday sting conducted by members of the PRO5 Regional Intelligence Division and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the Naga City Police Station and the Army’s 9th Infantry Division.
The suspect will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
