Bus plows into Quezon establishments, 4 of 15 returning OFWs, driver hurt

PAGBILAO, QUEZON -- Four of the 15 returning Overseas Filipino Workers and the driver of the bus ferrying them were hurt as the vehicle rammed into several business establishments along Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Bukal, here, on Saturday.

Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo identified the injured OFWs as Regine Joy Fuentes, 29, seawoman, resident of Bgy. Sta.Catalina, here;  Reymar Avendano, 29, seaman, of Bgy 5, Calauag, Quezon; Michael Angelo Moreno, 36, seaman, of Bgy. Sta. Milagrosa, Calauag, Quezon and Romel Abello, 5, seaman, of Bgy. Zone 1 Atimonan, Quezon.

The bus driver was identified as Gualberto Guzman, 58, of Antipolo, Rizal.

Town police commander Major Reden Romasanta said Guzman, for still unknown reason, suddenly turned the steering wheel to the Guzman suddenly turned the steering wheel to the left lane of the highway plowing into the frontal part of a business establishment and two residential houses.

On impact, Guzman and the 4 seafarers were hurt.

Romasanta said the 15 OFWs were on their way home after undergoing mandatory quarantine in Manila.
