CABANATUAN CITY – A 55-year-old businessman on Wednesday night was shot dead unidentified armed men while driving a Sports Utility Vehicle in this city.
The gun attack occurred at the Central Terminal in Bgy. D. S. Garcia at 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday amid the implementation of the nationwide gun ban due to the upcoming May midterm polls.
City police head Lt. Col. Ponciano Zafra identified the slain trader as Dennis Scotch Hernandez of Lot 4, Blk. 16, Melencio Extension, Bgy. Kapitan Pepe Subdivision, Cabanatuan City.
Hernandez was driving a white Toyota Land Cruiser when the suspects suddenly appeared and peppered his vehicle with bullets.
The victim, who was hit in the different parts of the body, was rushed to the nearby Immaculate Conception Medical Center but was declared dead-on-arrival by attending physicians.
Police are investigating the possible motive for the killing.
The victim, a self-made businessman, was hailed as a role model by the Department of Trade and Industry in 2015.
