AN anti-narcotics operation in Zamboanga City on Sunday morning resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old businesswoman after she sold more than a kilo of suspected shabu worth P8.1 million to a police poseur.
Police Regional Office 9 director Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup identified the arrested suspect as Sofia Caddabin Ibno, a resident of Uranus St., Dulaca Drive in Bgy. Tumaga, Zamboanga City.
The woman is said to be engaged in the “buy-and-sell” business until she was monitored to have already shifted to drug trafficking.
Combined operatives of the Zamboanga City Police Office, the Air Force and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested the suspect in an entrapment near her house around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Ibno’s cohort, Medson Kalim, managed to escape and is being hunted.
Recovered from the suspect were a large plastic packet and nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 1.2 kilograms of the “poor man’s cocaine” and P1.3 million boodle money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.
The suspect is being held at the PDEA Region 9 detention facility facing non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA chair Director General Aaron Aquino has ordered follow-up operations to arrest the main source of the drugs seized from Ibno.
