CABANATUAN City -- Opposition by neighbors to his business was among the possible motives being pursued by the local police in the murder of a 60-year-old trader involved in the gasoline-retailing business and buy-and-sell of used cars here last Sunday morning.

According to their investigation, city police head Supt. Ponciano Zafra said the slain victim Romeo Yuzon, of Martinez St., Bgy. Bantug Bulalo, this city, still managed to secure a permit to operate from the city government despite the strong opposition from some residents of Bgy. Valdefuente for the establishment of his business firm-U-Zone gasoline station/used car trading at said location.

Yuzon was shot dead by a lone gunman while sipping coffee and reading the newspapers in front of the gas station along Maharlika Highway near the foot of the bridge at 7:30 a.m.

Zafra said his probers are still gathering evidence to support the said findings which could be one of the possible motives behind the killing.

Based on CCTV footages obtained by the police, the gunman was driving a black/yellow Yamaha Mio motorcycle and donning a blue denim short, black long sleeves, and black bullcap, with a black mask covering his face.

Zafra said footages also showed the gunman going back and forth to the victim’s place several times before the gun attack.

In casing the victim, he said the suspect could be looking for the right time and precise opportunity to kill his would-be-target.

Zafra said probers recovered at the crime scene three fired cartridges for cal. 9mm pistol, a deformed and a fired bullet.

The trader’s wife, Yolanda, has approved the conduct of autopsy on her husband’s body at the Loida Funeral Homes in Bgy. San Juan ACCFA.
