CABANATUAN CITY – An anti-illegal drug symposium organized by the city police here has been reset for another date due to the 2019 novel coronavirus Acute Respiratory Disease (2019-nCoV ARD) scare, said newly-designated city chief of police Lt. Col. Arnel M. Dial.
Dial yesterday said the anti-illegal drug forum was rescheduled amid orders from city Mayor Myca Elizabeth R. Vergara for her subordinates to temporarily refrain from holding big gatherings amid the nCoV scare.
“Nagkataon na sinabi ni mayor na bawal muna daw ang gathering dahil sa coronavirus, kaya hindi siya natuloy, naka-schedule na sana siya gawin, i-imbitahin ko ang PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency), ang DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government), ang ating mga barangay captains ng 89 barangays dito, mga secretary, at BADAC members,” said Dial, the erstwhile deputy provincial director for administration at the Bataan provincial police prior to his designation here as officer-on-charge on January 15.
He said holding the anti-drug forum is his way of trying to find out possible solutions to combat the city’s drug problem in compliance with Mayor Vergara’s marching orders.
project ko ngayon supposed to be itong drug symposium sana nga itong Friday pero di natuloy dahil sa coronavirus,” explained Dial.
He said he already adjusted the forum’s schedule to be held either at the end of February or March next month depending on the NCoV situation.
