Cagayan HVT jailed over P430K shabu

AGENTS of the Cagayan Police Provincial Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency early morning Friday arrested a ‘high-value target’ in the province during an anti-narcotics operation in Solana municipality which led in the confiscation of nearly P450,000 worth of shabu, local police director, Colonel Ariel N. Quilang said.

The official identified the suspect as Ricardo Remegio, a 48-year-old businessman from Barangay San Gabriel, Tuguegarao City who has long been in the radar of the local police for his reported involvement in big-time drug trafficking activities.

In a report to Police Regional Office 2 director, Brigadier General Angelito A. Casimiro, the Cagayan police director said  Remegio was arrested near a Quarantine Control Point in Bgy. Maddarulug in Solana around 5:30 a.m.

Quilang said prior to the operation, they got a tip from a confidential informant that the suspect who is driving a gray Suzuki Swift will be transporting drugs from Tuguegarao City to Solana.

He said officers led by Major Jeofferson Gannaban and Captain Jhun-Jhun Balisi, joined by operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 2 rushed to the QCP in Bgy. Maddarulug to monitor the arrival of the vehicle.

During the routine inspection, a PDEA K-9 team decided to stop the suspect when their dog sniffed the possible presence of dangerous drugs inside the car.

The search resulted in the discovery of  knot-tied plastic bag containing nearly 64 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ valued at over P430,000.
