THE municipality of Calayan in Cagayan was officially declared as “drug-cleared” by provincial authorities, bringing to four the number of towns in the province that have been cleared of illegal drug activities since 2017.
Police Regional Office 2 director Brigadier General Jose Mario M. Espino yesterday said Calayan was declared as “drug-cleared” after passing all the requirements set by the Dangerous Drugs Board.
He said apart from Calayan, the other municipalities in Cagayan which have been declared as “drug-free” were Sta. Teresita, Sta. Praxedes and Rizal.
The four municipalities earned the brand after a thorough study by the Regional Oversight Committee composed of PRO2, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and local government.
