CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – The city government of Candon waived the payment of rental fees of market stallholders whose businesses are mandatorily closed or those that opted to close for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine from March 17 to April 30, 2020 due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Market stallholders covered by the waiving of rental fees include those in the Candon City Commercial Center, Candon Shopping Mall and Candon Arcade.

The same ordinance also waived the penalties and surcharges of market rental fees of establishments that are open within the city of Candon during the Luzon quarantine.

Establishments where penalties and surcharges of market rental fees are waived include those in the Candon City Commercial Center, Candon Shopping Mall, Candon City Farmers Market, and Candon Arcade.

These are stated in Ordinance No. 888 enacted by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and approved by City Mayor Ericson Singson, M.D. on April 13, 2020.

The enhanced community quarantine had adversely affected the income of business owners and operators and the financial capacity of the constituents of the city of Candon.

Meanwhile, the local government unit of Cervantes removed the penalty on paying fines and penalties on business taxes starting from April 3 to June 30, 2020 and community tax certificates (cedula) from April 3 to December 31, 2020 to ease the burdens during this period of ECQ.
