A 43-year old member of a Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) in Cebu City landed in jail after she sold over P2 million worth of shabu to an undercover officer on Tuesday evening, Police Regional Office 7 director, Chief Superintendent Debold M. Sinas announced yesterday.
Suspect Loures Primacio Abella, a food vendor and member of the Barangay Suba BADAC in Cebu City was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Bgy. Bulacao 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, the official said.
The suspect, a resident of Belgium Street in Bgy. Suba became the 1st member of an anti-drug abuse council to be arrested for illegal drug trafficking in Central Visayas and probably the 1st in the country since the Duterte government launched a massive war on drugs in July 2016.
According to Sinas, members of the Cebu City Police Station 7 under Senior Supt. Royina Marzan confiscated seven heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around 310 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P2.1 million and the boodle money topped by a marked P500 bill from the suspect’s possession.
The suspect is now being held at the local police detention facility facing non-bailable charges for selling and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the Central Visayas police director said.
