Chinese rescued from ‘loan shark’ compatriots

SIX Chinese nationals who were allegedly members of a loan shark syndicate were arrested  while kidnapped fellow Chinese was rescued by members of  the Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Calamba police in a raid at Ridge Point Resort in Purok Uno, Bgy. Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna  Saturday evening.

Laguna Provincial Director Col. Eleazar Matta  identified the suspects as Xin Wang,30, a native of Shen Xi, China; Sun  Quing , 26;  Hong Zhong  Ah, 38; Yqng Ben, 24; Zhao Da,40; and Si  Xian, 42, all natives of Fujian, China and residing in Pasay City.

Police said on February 27, the suspects allegedly forcibly took Edison Yen, 30, single, a native of Shanghai, China and a resident of Greenbelt, Makati City  and detained him in one of the rooms at the resort.

The Provincial Intelligence Branch Laguna PPO and the Calamba police conducted the rescue operation  after a concerned citizen informed them that a man in one of the rooms in the resort was shouting for help.

The raiding teams seized from the  suspects  five assorted cellular phones, two black pouch bags, P2,028 cash and the white Subaru  Forester registered to a  certain Sunqing Ji, of Pasay City.

The suspects, who were turnedover to the Calamba  City police, were  allegedly members of a loan shark group  victimizing Chinese  tourists playing in casinos.

Their modus is to offer money to their victim  with a huge interest.

If the victim is unable to pay, the group will detain him and will ask the victim’s family abroad to transfer the money through banks.

Most of the group’s  victims do not  file charges  for fear of their  lives.
