Cop in extort rap nabbed in Pampanga sting

MEMBERS of the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) yesterday arrested a policeman in an entrapment operation in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

PNP-IMEG chief Col. Romeo Caramat identified the suspect as Cpl. Joeton Samson assigned at the Mabalacat City Police Station.

Samson was arrested in an entrapment operation on MacArthur Highway in Bgy. Maimpis, San Fernando City at 9:46 a.m. yesterday,

The suspect was caught while receiving P150,000 in boodle money from his victim.

Caramat said Samson attempted to evade arrest by speeding off in his car prompting the arresting team to shoot the tires of the vehicle.

The suspect was cornered on MacArthur Highway in Bgy. Sindalan, San Fernando City but instead of surrendering, Samson fired at the operatives prompting officers to shoot back hitting him on the shoulder.

PNP-IMEG agents applied first aid on Samson before he was rushed by members of the San Fernando City City Risk Reduction Management Unit to Jose Lingad Memorial Hospital.

Seized from the suspect were the boodle money and a Glock pistol.

The  suspect allegedly demanded P150,000 from the complainant in exchange for the release of the victim’s Toyota Vios confiscated in an anti-drug operation by CDEU operatives of the  Mabalacat CPS.

Caramat said that as soon as doctors declared Samson fully recovered, the suspect will be taken to the PNP-IMEG detention facility in Camp Crame where he will be facing criminal and administrative charges for robbery-extortion and grave misconduct.
