CALAUAG, Quezon --- Police arrested five men who have been isolated in a quarantine facility after they caught them in the act of drinking liquor at Bgy. Sumilang here Wednesday night.
Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo identified the suspects as Joselito Balaoro, 42, Nazario Simbulan, 31, John Carlo Molina, 27, June Rivera, 24, and Mark Anthony Perez, 28, all workers and residents of this coastal town.
Madrideo said aside from violating liquor ban, the suspects also ignored the mandatory safe distancing rule.
Town police commander Major Jaytee Tiongco said the suspects along with other residents who came from other towns have been undergoing mandatory quarantine at Sumilang Elementary School class rooms.
"It is our policy in this town that returning residents and incoming visitors will be classified as Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) and should undergo a 14-day quarantine at our designated facilities", said Tiongco.
He said they will be taken cared of by Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Calauag.
At around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Tiongco said his men caught the suspects while drinking gin inside the facility.
All of them were charged with violations of R.A. 11332 and municipal ordinances and were placed behind bars.
