ANOTHER suspected ‘high-value’ drug target in Central Visayas was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police during a buy-bust operation in Consolacion, Cebu yesterday morning which led in the seizure of some P1.4 million worth of shabu, Police Regional Office 7 director, Brigadier General Debold M. Sinas said.
Sinas said that members of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group’s Special Operations Unit 5 led by Lieutenant Colonel Glenn Mayam and the Consolacion Municipal Police Station headed by Major Gerard Ace Pellare arrested suspect Rodello Bontuyan alias ‘Bodi,’ a 48-year-old resident of Pulang Bato, Dita, Cebu City during the sting in Barangay Pulpugan in Consolacion town at 4:30 a.m. yesterday.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing some 195 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P1.326 million and the boodle money topped by several marked bills, the Central Visayas police director said.
The arrested suspect was tagged by the PNP-DEG headed by Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius D. Ferro as a big-time drug trafficker operating in Cebu province and other parts of Central Visayas prior to his arrest which was made in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Sinas said the suspect is now being held at the Consolacion police lock-up facility while charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs are being readied against him.
