COVID-19 cases in Ecija town now 2, 1 PUI-related death

SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija -- Another confirmed positive COVID-19 case was reported in this town, bringing the new tally at 2 positive cases with one PUI-related death.

An update by the Nueva Ecija inter-agency task force COVID-19 posted via online yesterday described the new positive case here as Patient 24, aged 65, a resident of Bgy. Tikiw, and currently confined at the Nueva Ecija Doctors' Hospital in Cabanatuan City.

"Nahawa sa dalawang kapatid taga-Gapan pareho positive, said Mayor Arvin C. Salonga, in his text message to this reporter yesterday. He was referring to Patient 24's two other siblings - the PUI, who earlier died and the other one, who tested positive of the virus beforehand.

To control the spread of the killer virus, the mayor ordered a strict “Stay-at-home-policy” when he placed the entire barangay under extreme community quarantine.

Salonga’s total lockdown order strictly prohibits barangay residents from going out of their houses unless otherwise permitted under certain circumstances.

The mayor also directed the police to immediately arrest and file charges against those found violating his executive order.

To help the residents cope with their needs, food rations will be delivered door-to-door by the municipal government through the local social welfare and development office, Salonga added.

The mayor bared that a building structure to serve as an isolation facility for at least 60 patients with mild positive cases or PUIs can now be used in Bgy. Sta. Cruz.
