EIGHT wanted persons including a 38-year-old Pakistani national facing estafa charges were arrested by members of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in a series of manhunt operations this week, a report to PNP-CIDG chief Director Roel B. Obusan said yesterday.
Muhammad Asif Shamim was arrested on Kessing Street, Olongapo City by members of the 3rd Regional Field Unit under Senior Superintendent Christopher Abrahano.
Joel Caliwliw, the 2nd most wanted person in Cagayan Valley where he is facing a frustrated murder case, was tracked down at his hiding place in Sitio Lomboy in Barangay Tayabo in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija by local CIDG personnel with the help of the Philippine Army.
Feliciano Banquirig, a 52-year-old farmer wanted for homicide, was arrested by CIDG Region 1 officers under Senior Supt. Rommel Ochave in Purok 3, Bgy. Calabtangan in Mayantoc, Tarlac. Banquirig is the no. 1 most wanted person in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.
Romina San Diego, wanted for six counts of qualified theft, was arrested in Northwings Subdivision in Palmera, San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan by members of the CIDG Detective and Special Operations Unit under Senior Supt. Armel Gongona.
The other three arrested wanted men were Wilhelm Parco, Joel Masay and Marvin Nicole Engbino.
Parcon, a former kagawad of Bgy. Barasan in Pototan, Iloilo was arrested for estafa on Saturday by CIDG Region 6 operatives under Superintendent Benliner Capili. Masay is facing a carnapping case and was arrested by members of the CIDG Region 10 under Senior Supt. Tom Tuzon during a manhunt operation in Purok 2 in Bgy. Seti. Engbino, the 7th most wanted person in Pantukan, Compostela Valley where a case for four counts of rape in relation to Republic Act 760 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act has been filed against him, was arrested by CIDG Region 11 officers under Supt. Edilberto Leonardo last Sunday in Nueva Estrella in Bgy. Matiao.
Another suspect identified as Joel Sumaylo was not around when CIDG Region 8 agents under Supt. Eddie Alejandro raided his house in Bgy. Conalum in Inopacan, Leyte last Sunday morning. Cops seized two pistols and several live ammunition from the raid.
