CAMP Olivas, Pampanga -- Police operatives led by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Region 3 (CIDG-R3) arrested three men and confiscated guns and ammunition in three separate operations in Angeles City and Nueva Ecija, the other day.
Senior Supt. Christopher Abrahano, CIDG-R3 regional officer, said all operations were conducted by virtue of search and arrest warrants issued by the court for violation of Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
In Bgy. Lourdes Northwest, Angeles City, one Jeffrey David, was arrested after CIDG and city policemen found a cal. .45 Colt pistol with a magazine and four live ammunition in his residence.
David is identified as the leader of a criminal group involved in robbery and illegal drugs trafficking in CIDG-R3’s record.
In Bgy. Caalibangbangan, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, one Alberto Mangahas, 40, was arrested during the serving of a search warrant after a cal. .45 Armscor with a magazine containing five live ammunition were found in his possession.
CIDG identified Mangahas as a member of the San Juan Criminal Group involved in gunrunning activities.
In Quezon District, Cabanatuan City, CIDG operatives arrested one Doroteo Villar, 55, for illegal possession of a cal. .40 Taurus pistol with three magazines and 27 live ammunition.
A search warrant was issued by the court against him for violation of RA 10591.
Villar is also listed in the CIDG-R3’s record as a member of the San Juan Criminal Group.
Abrahano said the arrest of the suspects was conducted in peaceful and lawful manner in the presence of barangay officials and that they were apprised of their constitutional rights as accused.
